• So what is NeuroScience?
Neuroscience is the study of the Nervous System in simple terms. To understand the diseases associated with the Nervous System we must first comprehend the brain’s workings and the system of neuron pathways throughout our body.

  • 3 Subsections of the Brain
The brain is seperated into 3 key parts, the Cerebrum which is also the largest subsection, the Cerebellum and the Brainstem. Try not to get confused with the Cerebrum and Cerebellum as they are similarily worded.

  • Cerebrum
The Cerebrum consists of 4 lobes, as seen in the image the Occipital lobe, the Frontal lobe, the Temporal lobe, and lastly the Parietal lobe. Each of these lobes will be discussed further later on.

  • Cerebellum
The Cerebellum is located at the back of the brain, underneath the Occipital Lobe and next to the Brainstem, The Cerebellum is responsible for our motor skills, coordination, and balance as newer studies have shown that it could play a part in some cognitive functions but thats not important for now.

  • Brainstem
The Braistem consists of another 3 regions, the midbrain which the the uppermost part, the Pons which is in the middle and the Medulla Oblongata which the the bottommost part which connnects the Spinal Cord to the Brain.

Alright there you go! Those are the main parts of the brain, but to understand the reasons for neurological diseases we still have to delve deeper into each of these parts, a detailed explanation for Specific Neurological Diseases can be found in the Header under “NeuroLogical Diseases”.
