The Nervous System
The Nervous System is one of the more essential parts of the body, nearly responsible for all the functions including voluntary such as running and involuntary actions like your heartbeat. Most autoimmune conditions stem from some irregularity in the Nervous System.
Parts of the Nervous System.
The Nervous System is very large, hence it can be divided up into two areas, the Central Nervous System(CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System(PNS).
PNS - This subsection is composed of nerves that branch out from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body, includes sensory and motor neurons.
CNS - Includes the brain and spinal cord, the brain processes information and relays back through the spinal cord, a example can be the brain is the messenger and the highway is the spinal cord.
To further understand the Nervous System, lets go over the types of Neurons
Motor Neurons - carry signals from brain to muscle and glands, control involuntary and voluntary actions.
- What are involuntary actions and voluntary? - involuntary actions are things that cannot be controlled by our conciousness, such as our heart beat. Some things can be involuntary and voluntary, such as breathing, we can hold our breath till we pass out but after that it becomes a involuntary action until we come back to conciousness.
Continued - Types of Neurons.
Sensory Neurons - Carry sensory information from eyes, nose, ears etc. to the central nervous system for processing. This allows for the body to respond to exteral stimuli accordingly.
Interneurons - These Neurons connect Sensory and Motor Neurons. found primarily in the central nervous system. These Neurons are responsible for higher cognitive performances, such as thinking and decision-making, these neurons are also key in responding and connecting various stimuli.
